The north-eastern part of the 16km long Wetterstein Ridge is the most solitary region of the whole range. The access routes to the summits are long and thus they are rarely crowded. Westerlich Törlspitze is one of these summits in the Wetterstein massif and offers great views. Here we head to starting from Austrian side in Leutasch. From here we went over the Bergleintal into the south wall of the Musterstein. We walk along the gravel road to a gate and follow the signs "Meilerhütte 4h". Along it the route soon goes up steeply. The forest becomes lighter, then along the hairpin bends through bushes to below the rock walls to the right to a small hill (Schönegg). This is the one of the most impressive excursion above the Leutasch! The gorge-like Bergleintal is framed in the south by the walls of the Öfelekopf and in the north by the brittle flanks of the Wettersteinwand. It is very impressive to climb up to the Schöneck, but even more imposing is the way across the vast karst and boulder areas of the Leutasch plateau to the Meilerhütte. Meilerhütte is one of the most spectacular mountain huts in the Bavarian Alps and the second highest one. The hut sits enthroned on the Dreitorspitzgatterl between gigantic rock walls on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol. The imposing stone construction was built in 1911. The old Meilerhütte, which was built in 1898, now serves as a winter room. The refuge offers a breathtaking view! From here we get fast to Westlichen Törlspitzen (2426m). From the summit you have a great view of the Partenkirchner and the Leutascher Dreitorstpitze in good weather. You can also overlook the Hochblassen and the Zugspitzferner from here and south direction Austrian mountains!

We have a well deserved break at Meilerhütte, then we will start a very long way down. We head first to Schachenhaus through many serpentines. From the lookout pulpit near the castle, there is a unique view down to the Reintal, Oberreintal, the surrounding mountains and the Zugspitzplatt and Zugspitze massif.

King Ludwig II of Bavaria built it around 1872 and fled here from the Munich residence to work and celebrate with his servants. We then catch the koniginsweg and we head south direction Mittenwald. On the way we pass through two beautiful lakes with mountain view, Ferchensee and Lautersee. Finally we head to Mittenwald, our final destination. We could consider having dinner there. I am pretty sure we will be all very hungry when we get there but this we can decide spontaneously.
