On this impressive round trip from the Stillachtal to the idyllically situated Rappensee we get to know the Allgäuer Alps from their most beautiful side!
The ascent leads us first through dense mountain forest, then past rocky steep grassy ravines and finally over a gentle alpine pasture up to the Rappensee. The impressive high mountain scenery around this emerald green lake rewards completely for the effort of the ascent and makes this tour a great experience!
Just above the Rappensee, lies the Rappenseehütte (2091m), the largest hut of the German Alpine Club (DAV). After a short rest at the lake, the ascent to the Rappenseekopf follows. At the junction directly below the hut, we follow the path straight on in the direction of Rappenseekopf. Further up there are beautiful views of the waterfall below the Rappenseehütte, which can be reached after crossing a small hilltop. At the Rappenseescharte, after a short stony ascent, an imposing panoramic view awaits us in the surrounding Allgäu and Lechtal Alps, especially Hohes Licht and Hochalptal! Finally we reach the summit of the Rappenseekopf (2469m). The panorama to all sides is breathtaking! The descent takes place on the other side along a well-developed path steeply downhill until we reach the signs to Rappenseehütte. We make a break at the hut and finally from now on the way back follows the way over the Enzianhütte, the Petersalpe back to the bus stop Birgsau-Eschbach.
