The circumnavigation of the Gosaukamm
is a very long and beautiful hiking tour, which impresses above all by
its scenic and geological attractions.
Granted, the landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage region Hallstatt
Dachstein Salzkammergut is the "non plus ultra" for hikers, hikers and
nature lovers: Unforgettable tours to the most beautiful mountain huts
and pastures, panoramic views as far as the eye can see and moments of
happiness for all eternity! The circumnavigation of the Gosaukamm can be done as an extended day tour as well as a cozy 2-day tour.
The
first section leads from the front Gosausee (car park, valley station
Gosaukammbahn) along the well-marked trail no. 612 in the direction of
Steiglpass. Initially, the path leads through wooded terrain to the
so-called Scharwandhütte. From the Scharwandhütte you can now enter the
"free" terrain and for the first time you have an unrestricted view of
the huge rocks of the Gosaukamm.
After approx. 2 further hours you
will reach the Steiglpass via the partly rugged path (highest point of
the tour - 2015m). Very promising and you see for the first time the
destination of the first stage : Hofpürglhütte. From the Steiglpass
leads the sometimes somewhat exposed way (partly wire insured) Down in
the so-called "Kessel". From here you have a very good insight into the
eastern wall of the Bischofsmütze - ie in that part of the mountain,
which was in the last 10 years again and again the scene of massive rock
falls. Now about 30 minutes along the cozy climb 601 - past the
"Mosermanndl" and the so-called "teeth" (climbing) - the Hofpürglhütte.
We
then keep going round circumnavitagin west side of Gosaukamm passing
through more huts where we can have more drinks and extra breaks.
Finally we reach our starting point: Gosausee.
