You always use a Bayern ticket to go to the mountains? Other options may be cheaper for you! That blog gathers the main group tickets for a perfect hiking trip in Bavaria & Tirol.
Bayern Ticket
Most common ticket, valid for the whole Bayern region, including busses. People often choose this ticket even if they could use a cheaper one.
Validity: 1 to 5 persons, after 9 am during the weekdays, and at any time during the weekend.
Price: 25€ for 1 person, +7€ per person (53€ for 5 persons).
Scope: Bayern region, every RB train and bus.

Extra: This is the only group ticket covering Neuschwandstein Castle (Füssen).
Regio-ticket Werdenfels
Cheaper than the Bayern ticket. The Werdenfels region is the area around Garmisch Partenkirchen. Careful - Scharnitz is not included!
Validity: 1 to 5 persons, at any time of the day, even during the weekdays.
Price: 22€ for 1 person, +7€ per person (50€ for 5 persons).
Scope: RB trains from Munich to Garmisch / Mittenwald / Kochel / Reutte in Tirol and every station on those lines.

Regio-ticket Werdenfels Ticket + Innsbruck
This version of the Werdenfels ticket lets you travel until Scharnitz, Seefeld in Tirol and Innsbruck.
Validity: 1 to 5 persons, at any time of the day, even during the weekdays.
Price: 27€ for 1 person, +12€ per person (75€ for 5 persons).
Scope: RB trains from Munich to Garmisch / Schartniz / Innsbruck and every station on those lines.

KombiTickets Oberland (ex "BOB Ticket")
BOB train are those travelling to Lenggries / Bayrischzell / Tegernsee region.
Validity: 5 persons, after 9 am during the weekdays, and at any time during the weekend.
Price: 38€ (unique price for groups from 2 to 5 people).
Scope: From Munich to Bayrischzell / Lenggries / Tegernsee and every station on those lines.

Guten-Tag Ticket
Validity: 1 to 5 persons, after 9 am during the weekdays, and before 9 am during the weekend.
Price: 22€ for 1 person, +7€ per person (50€ for 5 persons).
Scope: From Munich to Kufstein or Salzburg, and every station on this line.

About the Zugspitzbahn
Zugspitzbahn is a little train going from Garmish to Zugspitzplatt. Between those two stations, it stops at 6 places: Hausberg, Kreuzeck-/ Alpspitzbahn, Hammersbach, Grainau, Eibsee, and Riffelriß.Here you can find the timetable. Bayern Ticket covers only from Garmish to Grainau. Going further requires you to buy an extra ticket.
